Suspension

Far and Wide camper trailers are fitted with either 7 leaf spring suspension with offroad gas shock absorbers or coil suspension as standard, dependant on your model choice.  We can also offer Sugarglider coil spring suspension on all models.

Tyres

The Tanami Signature comes standard with 265/75/R16 Mud Terrain tyres on Magnum Alloys.

The Desert Trek and The Simpson come standard with 265/75/R16 All Terrain tyres on 6 Stud Sunraysia Steel Rims.

Axle

50mm heavy-duty axle. As strong as it gets.

Brakes

The Desert Trek and The Simpson come with a choice of Heavy duty Hydraulic or Electric Drum Brakes with handbrake.  The Tanami comes standard with Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

Chassis and Body Construction

Galvanised box section chassis and upper frame. Fully seam welded aluminium 5-bar checkerplate outer cladding. Lightweight and strong!

An option introduced in 2008 is a revolutionary all Aluminium Chassis. This creates a much lighter camper and is rust-proof. Tried and tested within the Emergency Services, Aluminium Chassis provides the same strength as mild steel with a potion of the weight. 

The Desert Trek is amongst the lightest of Hard Based Camper Trailers on the market.

Canvas

Combination 10oz and 12oz Australian Made Duraproof canvas throughout with choice of colour combination. Tentex mesh is used for all screens.  Thickness can be customised to suit customer.

Awning/Annex

Our camper comes complete with a zip on awning, poles & ropes.  The awning/annex can be customised to suit your particular needs.  Please refer to Canvas Options for pricing.

Coupling Type

Treg poly block off-road coupling. Offers 360o rotation and 70o vertical oscillation.

Kitchen

Stainless Steel slide-out free standing kitchen containing 4-burner stove, Grill with sink and drainer.

12-volt Shurflo water pump with a permanently connected flick switch tap for your convenience.

Power/Battery

We use quality fully sealed AGM batteries.
Voltage meter inside camper.
Battery charger - various according to model.
240 volt power inlet - to charge batteries from mains power.
240 volt power outlets.
Heavy duty 12 volt auxiliary power outlets inside & outside.
12v cigarette lighter type power outlet.
Anderson plug inlet to allow battery charge whilst in transit.

Fully installed Solar Input Plug and Regulator.

70 litre PVC water tank recess mounted under body - Upgradable to 120lt.
Jerry can holders (water or fuel).
2 x 4kg gas bottle holders (2 x gas bottles included).

Bed

120mm (5") Innerspring queen-size mattress.

Foam available if required.                                                                  

Tow Bar

Far and Wide were groundbreaking in the introduction of a recessed "removable" tow bar allowing the easy transit of bikes.  The recessed tow bar is standard on all Far and Wide Campers models.

Paint/Finish

HARDLY A DROP!!

Our logic here is quite simple. This camper is designed to withstand the rigors of the Australian outback and bush, as well as eating up the bitumen at 100km/h. Naturally, "going bush" has a tendency to result in unattractive scuffs and scratches to your paintwork.

With this in mind, we have made very deliberate use of unpainted aluminum checkerplate on exterior surfaces because of it's durability and it's naturally attractive finish.

Should you one day decide to part with your "Far and Wide Camper", you do not want the burden of having to re-spray the trailer.

Other

All external fittings such as storage access doors are flush mounted to reduce the possibility of damage in an off-road environment.

Roof racks provide additional storage space for lightweight gear.
